The Tennessee Lottery’s instant game, “$50 Million Cash Spectacular” just keeps on creating winners. Dale Webb, of Paris, Tenn., is the latest winner of the game’s top instant prize of $500,000! Dale, 61, claimed his prize Wednesday, Aug. 20 at the Lottery’s Nashville headquarters after a sleepless night during which only he knew where the winning ticket was hidden. A wordsmith struck speechless? Not what one would normally imagine, but that was the case with Ashland City songwriter Mark Battles when he realized that he had won $150,000 playing the instant game, Giant Jumbo Bucks. “I couldn’t believe it,” said Mark. “I just stood there with my mouth open and couldn’t say a thing.” But it wasn’t long before Mark found his voice and called his wife and daughter to join him at Lottery headquarters where he received his winning check. “I believe I’ll be writing up-tempo songs for awhile,” Mark said. Email users are asked to beware of a fraudulent email circulating nationwide suggesting recipients are prize winners of the Tennessee Lottery. The email asks recipients for a payment to cover processing fees. The Tennessee Lottery never requires fees to claim a prize and asks that anyone who receives such an email or letter to disregard it.

James Dodson, of Dandridge, had to call his co-worker Jeremy Jones 19 times before he reached him with incredible news—they won $200,000 playing Powerball! Although four family birthdays in one month can occasionally present a shopping challenge, the dates proved to be a lucky charm for Knoxville’s Kathy Jones, who used the numbers to win $800,000 playing Powerball.
“I always play my family’s birthdays,” said Kathy, who claimed her winnings Monday at the Tennessee Lottery’s Nashville headquarters. Kathy, who owns Brickstone, a masonry company in Knoxville, plays the number nine for September, then the dates of the birthdays in that month of her mother, father, niece and daughter-in-law.

“Indiana Jones” Catapults Into Lottery Retailers! |

With the launch of the Tennessee Lottery’s “Indiana Jones” instant ticket game, fans of the popular films don’t have to wait until the newest installment hits theatres to enjoy an action-packed adventure.
“Indiana Jones” is the first time the Lottery has partnered with the silver screen, with hopes to capture some of the “Indymania” that amassed $1.2 billion in worldwide ticket sales for the first three pictures.
“With the huge amount of nostalgia connected to the ‘Indiana Jones’ character, this new game will be fun for players and add another way for the Tennessee Lottery to raise dollars for education,” said Rebecca Hargrove, President and CEO of the Tennessee Lottery.

After learning she had won $250,000 through the Lottery’s “Play it Again!” second-chance drawing program, Brownsville’s Linda Climer “walked around in a daze” for quite some time. Her husband Mark reacted differently: “I took off running to get my son!” he told Lottery officials when the family came to claim their prize on May 1. Once she received her winnings, Linda was calm enough to say that she planned to continue working, pay off bills and save for retirement. Good luck to the Climers!

When Power Play 10X took place last year, Merwin Scruggs of Murfreesboro was the first $2 million winner after the Powerball drawing on April 14, 2007. Merwin’s ticket matched all five white numbers correctly, which would usually win $200,000.
