Diversity and Inclusion

The Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation (TEL) is fully committed to diversity.  Some of the important strategies behind this commitment include:

• Diversity and Inclusion in the Workforce
The Tennessee Lottery empowers a diverse workforce at all levels. It’s a critical component of our success as a Corporation and ingrained into our DNA. The Lottery’s workforce continues to represent an impressive level of diversity. Of the cumulative total of 162 TEL employees during Fiscal Year 2021, 52% were women; 48% were men; 48% were minority; and 52% were non-minority.

• TEL Advisory Council on Minority Business Participation
The Advisory Council is a group of business leaders from each of Tennessee’s three grand divisions that provides insight and helps guide economic development and education strategies for minority-owned businesses.

• Wanda Young Wilson Internship Program
This annual 10-week paid internship program provides professional corporate training and work experience for students attending Tennessee’s Historically Black Colleges & Universities.

• Equal Business Opportunity Program
The Lottery and its major procurement vendors maximize minority business participation and have exceeded goals each year since inception.

Additionally, in an effort to increase the pool of diverse businesses who submit bids for procurement opportunities offered by the Tennessee Lottery and its major vendors, the TEL hosts its own Equal Business Opportunity Procurement Workshop for women, minority, disadvantaged, and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses.  The Lottery also sponsors and participates in various programs and educational activities that promote Tennessee’s minority business community.
