Environment not the only winner with Play it Again!
NASHVILLE – Sixteen Tennesseans—including a cook from Memphis who claimed his $100,000 prize today—‘Played it Again’ and won in the Tennessee Lottery’s second “Play it Again!” second-chance drawing held earlier this week.
“Wooo—weeee!” said Stephen Russell, 39, when President and CEO Rebecca Hargrove phoned to tell him about his $100,000 win. “You just don’t know how good this is!”
Stephen, a cook at Corky’s Manufacturing in Memphis, is one of 16 winners who will receive prizes ranging from $1,000 to $100,000 as part of the Play it Again! program. Play it Again! was designed to help the environment while giving Tennessee Lottery players a second-chance to win prizes from non-winning instant tickets.
The next highest winner was Anthony Pope, a construction worker from Columbia who won $50,000 by entering a non-winning “Jumbo Bucks” ticket. The next highest win was for Becky Vaughn of Rogersville, who won $25,000 with her “Power Pay” entry and was moved to tears.
“I never!” she exclaimed. Becky has six grandchildren and plans to use part of her winnings to ensure a wonderful holiday.
A complete list of winners and additional details about Play it Again! is available at the Tennessee Lottery’s website at www.tnlottery.com. To “Play it Again,” simply register non-winning instant tickets via the internet (www.tnlottery.com). Just click on the Play it Again! icon … and that’s all there is to it—no need for postage, envelopes, or even to keep the ticket. Once the ticket is registered, the Lottery asks players to dispose of tickets properly. For added convenience, players may register at one of the Lottery’s five district offices in Chattanooga, Johnson City, Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville.
Since the Tennessee Lottery began selling tickets on Jan. 20, 2004, it has raised more than $1 billion to fund specific education programs, including college scholarships, pre-kindergarten and after-school programs.
