Frequently Asked Questions

• How old do I have to be to play?

  Persons must be at least 18 years of age or older to purchase or redeem Lottery tickets.

• Where can I buy tickets?

  The Lottery has approximately 5,000 retailer outlets across Tennessee. Use our Retailer Locator to find a participating retailer near you.

• Can I buy Lottery tickets on the internet or through a subscription? Can I use my debit or credit card to purchase tickets?

  No. Tennessee law requires that all Lottery tickets must be purchased in-person at a participating retailer, and tickets can only be purchased with cash.

• Can I purchase advance tickets for drawings?

  In Tennessee, players may purchase Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto America, and CASH 4 LIFE tickets up to 10 drawings in advance. Tennessee Cash tickets may be purchased up to 12 drawings in advance. Daily Tennessee Jackpot, Cash 3 and Cash 4 tickets may be purchased seven drawing days in advance. (Please note, there are no morning or midday drawings for Cash 3 and Cash 4 on Sundays.) KENO To Go players may purchase 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, or 20 consecutive draws.

• When are the drawings for Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto America, CASH 4 LIFE, Tennessee Cash, Daily Tennessee Jackpot, KENO To Go, Cash 3 and Cash 4?

  Each online drawing has a “draw break,” which is a short period of time when tickets cannot be purchased on the day of the drawing just prior to the draw. After the draw occurs, tickets may once again be purchased. Please note, there are no draw breaks for KENO To Go.

  Powerball draw break begins at approximately 9:00 p.m. CT (10:00 p.m. ET).
  Mega Millions draw break begins at approximately 9:45 p.m. CT (10:45 p.m. ET).
  Lotto America draw break begins at approximately 9:00 p.m. CT (10:00 p.m. ET).
  CASH 4 LIFE draw break begins at approximately 7:45 p.m. CT (8:45 p.m. ET).
  Tennessee Cash draw break begins at approximately 10:15 p.m. CT (11:15 p.m. ET).
  Daily Tennessee Jackpot draw break begins at approximately 8:45 p.m. CT (9:45 p.m. ET).
  Cash 3 and Cash 4 draw breaks are approximately 20 minutes prior to the draw time.

• Can I receive draw results by email/text?

  No, we do not send drawing results by email or text. You can find drawing results on this website and the TN Lottery app. Drawing results are also shown on affiliate television stations, printed in some major state newspapers and recorded on the Tennessee Lottery Player Hotline.

• How are Lottery drawing-style games conducted?

  Cash 3, Cash 4, Tennessee Cash, Daily Tennessee Jackpot and KENO To Go drawings are conducted in Nashville using one of two automated drawing machines. These are stand-alone computers that operate as random number generators. A random number generator consists of highly secure computerized systems that generate numbers in a random manner, with no human involvement. The drawings are videotaped.

  Once the winning numbers are drawn, they can be viewed on TEL broadcast television stations, on our website, or with the TN Lottery app. Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto America and CASH 4 LIFE are multi-state drawings not held in Tennessee.   • How do I play?

    Select 5 numbers from 1 to 38. If you match any of the 4 winning combinations – you win!

  • What is the cost of a ticket?

    Tickets are $1.00 for each play area selected. If you add Quick Cash, add an additional $1.00 for each play.

  • What is the starting jackpot?

    The starting jackpot is $30,000.

  • What are the overall odds of winning a Daily Tennessee Jackpot prize?

    The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 8.36.

  • What are the overall odds of winning a prize for Quick Cash?

    The overall odds of winning a Quick Cash prize are 1 in 5.24.

  • When can I redeem a winning Quick Cash ticket?

    Daily Tennessee Jackpot tickets purchased with the Quick Cash option may be redeemed immediately following the receipt of a winning Quick Cash ticket. You should receive an exchange ticket for any remaining Daily Tennessee Jackpot draws.

  • What is an exchange ticket?

    If a ticket with consecutive draws is validated, a new ticket for the remaining draws will be printed in exchange for the ticket that is being paid. It’s your responsibility to make sure you receive your exchange ticket BEFORE leaving the retailer location.

  • What is the time period for claiming a Daily Tennessee Jackpot prize?

    All Daily Tennessee Jackpot drawing prizes must be claimed within 180 days after the drawing date in which a prize was won. Daily Tennessee Jackpot Quick Cash prizes must be claimed within 180 days after the first draw date on the ticket.

  • What if I make a mistake on the playslip?

    You should check your playslip carefully to make sure that the correct selections have been marked before presenting it to a Tennessee Lottery retailer. Daily Tennessee Jackpot tickets cannot be canceled. You may also use the TN Lottery app to create a mobile playslip. Use the mobile playslip option to conveniently create and save a play. You will present the generated QR code to a retailer to complete your purchase.

  • Are multiple draws available?

    Yes. You can choose up to 7 consecutive draws (including the current drawing).

  • Can Daily Tennessee Jackpot tickets be canceled?

    No. Daily Tennessee Jackpot tickets cannot be canceled.

  • How can I see the drawing?

    Drawings can be viewed on your smart phone, tablet or computer by visiting tnlottery.com.

  • When are the drawings?

    Daily Tennessee Jackpot drawings are held every night at approximately 9:00 p.m. CT/10:00 p.m. ET.

  • What happens if I lose a ticket?

    You should immediately sign the back of each ticket upon purchase. The individual who is in possession of an unsigned ticket is the individual who will be able to cash the ticket.

• Cash 3 and Cash 4 WILD BALL

  • What is Wild Ball?

    Wild Ball is an optional add-on feature for Cash 3 and Cash 4 that gives you more chances to win on your favorite play types.

  • What does it cost to add Wild Ball?

     Adding Wild Ball doubles the cost of your Cash 3 or Cash 4 play. If your play costs $1, adding Wild Ball will bring the total ticket cost to $2.

  • How do I add Wild Ball to my Cash 3 or Cash 4 play?

    Before you buy your Cash 3 or Cash 4 ticket, make sure you ask the clerk to add Wild Ball to your play or fill in the Wild Ball Yes box on your playslip. You can also purchase a Cash 3 or Cash 4 ticket with Wild Ball through a Lottery self-serve vending machine.

  • How does Wild Ball work?

    After every Cash 3 drawing and Cash 4 drawing, the Lottery will draw a one-digit (0-9) Wild Ball number. If you purchased the Wild Ball option when you bought your ticket, the Wild Ball number drawn can replace another number drawn by the Lottery to help create a winning combination for your play. The numbers on your ticket do not change. You must match the numbers on your ticket to one of the new winning combinations created by the Wild Ball number.

  • How is the Wild Ball number selected?

    After every Cash 3 drawing and Cash 4 drawing, the Lottery will randomly draw a one-digit (0-9) Wild Ball number. You don’t select an actual Wild Ball number. Rather, you select whether to add the Wild Ball option to your play when you purchase your ticket.

  • Which numbers can the Wild Ball replace?

    To help create a winning combination for your play, the Wild Ball number that the Lottery draws can be used in place of one of the other numbers drawn by the Lottery for base play. It cannot be swapped for the numbers that you picked and does not change the numbers on your ticket.

  • Are Wild Ball prize payouts different than those for regular Cash 3 and Cash 4?

  • Can a CASH 3 and CASH 4 ticket purchased with Wild Ball win from both prize tiers?

    Yes! Assume you play a $1 Exact Order Cash 3 play and add the Wild Ball feature, which doubles the cost of your ticket to $2. Your ticket numbers are 2-5-3. Now assume the Lottery draws winning numbers of 2-5-3 with a Wild Ball number of 2. You matched the winning numbers Exact, so you would win $500. Since you also added the Wild Ball feature, you can use that Wild Ball number to replace any one of the Lottery-drawn numbers to create additional winning combinations for your play. So, you could replace the 2 in the winning numbers with the Wild Ball 2 to match the winning numbers Exact. Since you used the Wild Ball to match the numbers, you would win an additional $180, for a total of $680 in winnings for that play!   • Have the prizes and payouts changed for Cash 3 and Cash 4?

    No; there are no changes to the base games. You can keep playing Cash 3 and Cash 4 as if nothing changed. If you did not add the Wild Ball option, you’d simply play your game the same way you’ve been playing it.

  • Will my old playslips still work, even if I don’t add Wild Ball?

    No. Whether or not you choose to add Wild Ball, you must replace your playslip. Old playslips will not work as of November 14, 2021. New playslips are available at all retailers. The new playslip includes a box allowing you to add the Wild Ball option. You must choose yes or no on the playslip.

  • When playing Cash 3 and Cash 4 with Wild Ball, can I Quick Pick my numbers?

    Yes, you can request a Quick Pick (QP) and have the terminal randomly select your numbers for you. You’ll simply need to tell the clerk whether or not you’d like to add Wild Ball to your play.

• POWERBALL with Double Play

  • What is Powerball with Double Play?

    Double Play is a new add-on feature to the Powerball game. For an additional $1 per play, you will have another chance to match your Powerball numbers in a second-chance drawing with a top cash prize of $10 million.

    The Double Play drawing is held after every Powerball drawing on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

  • Will I have two separate sets of numbers – one set of numbers for the Powerball drawing and a second set of numbers for Double Play drawing?

    No. You will use the same set of numbers for the Powerball drawing and Double Play drawing.

  • Will my Powerball ticket with the Double Play add-on feature be eligible to win prizes in both the Powerball drawing and Double Play drawing?

    Yes. Powerball tickets that include the Double Play add-on feature will be eligible to win prizes in both the Powerball drawing and Double Play drawing.

  • Will Power Play apply to prizes won in the Double Play drawing?

    No. Power Play does not apply to Double Play prizes.

  • Can a Powerball ticket include both the Power Play add-on feature and Double Play add-on feature?

    Yes. Powerball tickets can include both add-on features for a total price of $4 per play. You may also elect to purchase one or none of the add-on features:
    Powerball – $2
    Powerball + Power Play – $3
    Powerball + Double Play – $3
    Powerball + Power Play + Double Play – $4

  • What are the odds for the Double Play drawing?

    The Double Play drawing will have the same odds as the Powerball drawing since the two pools of numbers from which the winning numbers are drawn are the same (5/69 + 1/26).

  • Will the Double Play $10 million top prize roll after each drawing?

    No. The $10 million top prize for Double Play is a set prize and will not roll. The Double Play top prize will be divided equally among all winning top prize plays.

  • How many lotteries offer Double Play?

    18 lotteries offer Double Play: Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and Washington. Additional lotteries may choose to offer Double Play at a later date.

  • What time is the Double Play drawing?

    The Double Play drawing is held after the Powerball drawing on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday between approximately 10:30 pm – 10:40 pm CT.

  • Is the Double Play drawing broadcast on television?

    No, but it will be live streamed on Powerball.com.

  • Where can I watch the Double Play drawing?

    Recorded video of the drawing will be posted to Powerball.com and the Powerball YouTube page at the conclusion of the drawing.

• KENO To Go

  • When are KENO To Go drawings, and how can I see them?
    KENO To Go drawings are held daily, every four minutes, from 5:04 a.m. to 12:56 a.m. CT / 6:04 a.m. to 1:56 a.m. ET. Drawings can be viewed on your smartphone, tablet, computer, or at a Lottery Retailer on the video monitor.
  • What are “spots” in KENO To Go?

    Spots are the numbers you play. Choose how many spots/numbers you want to play up to 10. Then pick that amount of spots (numbers) from a field of 1 to 80. Playing more spots increases your potential winnings.

  • How many KENO To Go spots must be matched to win?

    For each spot category, a different number of spots must be matched to win a prize. The 10 spot game is the only game where matching zero spots wins a prize.

  • Can I choose my own Keno To Go numbers?

    Yes, but only by completing a playslip. Or choose Quick Pick and let the computer select your numbers.

  • What is the cost of a KENO To Go ticket?

    The minimum ticket cost is $1 per draw.

  • What is the “drawing number” indicated on my KENO To Go ticket?

    Every KENO To Go drawing has its own unique “draw number.” The draw number is printed on your ticket and is also referenced wherever drawing results are posted. If you select consecutive draws, your selected number(s) will be played for each of the draw numbers printed on your ticket.

  • When can I claim a KENO To Go prize?

    You can claim your prize immediately after the drawing in which your prize was won. If a prize is claimed on a ticket with consecutive draws, an exchange ticket will be given to you with the remaining drawings. It is your responsibility to make sure you receive your exchange ticket from the retailer. All prizes must be claimed within 180 days after the drawing date in which the prize was won.

  • Can I enter my KENO To Go tickets into VIP for Play It Again! drawings?

    Only non-winning instant game tickets are eligible for Play It Again! drawings. However, you can enter your winning and non-winning KENO To Go tickets to earn VIP Points that are eligible for VIP Rewards® Drawings.

  • How many consecutive KENO To Go Drawings can I play?

    You can play 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, or 20 consecutive drawings.

  • What are the overall odds of winning a KENO To Go prize?

    The odds of winning a prize depends on the number of spots you play. See the back of your playslip for overall odds for each Spot Game.

  • If I play more than $1 per draw in KENO To Go and win a prize, how do I calculate my winnings?

    To calculate your winnings for KENO To Go and Bulls-Eye prizes simply multiply the amount you win by the dollar amount that you played on the base ticket (not your total ticket cost). For example, if you play $4 on the 10 Spot Game and you win $10, your prize is $40.

    If you added the Bulls-Eye feature and match the Bulls-Eye number and KENO To Go numbers, you win both prizes.

    The highest prize you can win without Bulls-Eye is $100,000, regardless of the amount played per draw. The highest prize you can win playing Bulls-Eye is $300,000, regardless of the amount played per draw.

  • Where can I purchase KENO To Go?

    KENO To Go is available at any Lottery retailer location.

  • Can I play KENO To Go from the Lottery vending machine?

    KENO To Go is available to play at Lottery vending machines. You must fill out a playslip to play.

  • What is the Bulls-Eye feature for KENO To GO?

    Bulls-Eye is an optional purchase to KENO To Go that gives you the chance to win more prizes and bigger prizes. For every KENO To Go draw, one Bulls-Eye number is randomly selected from the 20 winning numbers drawn. If you played the Bulls-Eye option and match the Bulls-Eye number, you win the Bulls-Eye prize.

    You also win when you match both the Bulls-Eye number and KENO To Go numbers.

    If you don’t match the Bulls-Eye number, you can still win by matching your KENO To Go numbers.

  • What does it cost to add Bulls-Eye?

    If you add Bulls-Eye to your play, your total ticket cost will be double your base ticket cost.

  • How will I know which number is the Bulls-Eye?

    Immediately after the 20 KENO To Go numbers are drawn, an arrow will travel across the screen and randomly select one of the 20 KENO To Go numbers as the Bulls-Eye number. That number will then be shown with a Bulls-Eye target to signify that it is the Bulls-Eye number for that drawing.
