$1 MILLION WINNER FROM HERMITAGE “ALMOST THREW HIS TICKET AWAY!” 28th Winner of $1 Million or More This Year, 129th Since Inception

NASHVILLE – It may not be the $586 Mega Millions jackpot that has the nation abuzz, but winning a $1 million Powerball prize from this weekend’s drawing was just fine with John Young of Hermitage. In fact, it turns out John is extra-lucky because he nearly threw the winning ticket away after first misreading the numbers displayed.

“I still can’t believe it,” said John, a truck driver who lives in Hermitage. “It’s unreal!” John, along with his wife and son, collected the prize today at the Tennessee Lottery’s Nashville office. The family said they plan to buy or build a house, among other things. The Powerball ticket was purchased at Love’s Travel Stop on Hwy. 70E in Madison County.

John’s Powerball ticket is the 28th winner this year of $1 million or more and the 129th winning ticket sold worth $1 million or more since the Lottery began.
