LOTTERY HITS MILESTONE WITH 150TH WINNING TICKET WORTH $1 MILLION OR MORE!

NASHVILLE – Thanksgiving promises to be especially enjoyable this year for a lucky lottery player after winning $1 million playing $5,000,000 Multiplier Spectacular, an instant-ticket game from the Tennessee Lottery with a top prize of $5 million.

The winner, who preferred that her name not be used, claimed the prize at the Lottery’s Nashville headquarters this week, marking the 150th winning ticket worth a million dollars or more sold in Tennessee since the Lottery’s inception. The winning ticket was sold at OMM Discount Tobacco, 400 West Jackson Blvd., in Washington County’s Jonesborough.

The Tennessee Lottery marked the 100th winning million-dollar-or-more ticket in December 2012, nearly nine years after ticket sales began January 20, 2004. Since then—in slightly less than two years—the Lottery has sold another 50 winning tickets worth $1 million or more … including the record-setting $259.8 million Powerball ticket won in June by Roy Cockrum of Knoxville. All told, players have won more than $7.7 billion in prizes since inception.

There are more ways than ever to become a millionaire playing the Tennessee Lottery’s games. Last month, the Lottery launched its newest drawing-style game, MONOPOLY Millionaires Club™, an innovative multi-jurisdictional game offering three ways to win a million dollars or more. Just three weeks after the game’s launch, Tennessee became one of only 10 lotteries that had a $1 million winner from a MONOPOLY Millionaires’ Club drawing. That ticket, sold in Collierville, has not yet been claimed.

Although some of the games that featured prizes of $1 million or more are no longer available, other games have taken their place. Of the 150 winning tickets, 81 were from drawing-style games, including 49 from Powerball. The remaining 69, including the milestone 150th ticket, were from instant-ticket games, including six from the Lottery’s Play It Again! program, which gives players a chance to win cash prizes by entering non-winning instant tickets at www.tnlottery.com.
