LOTTERY’S 3RD QUARTER TRANSFER BRINGS TOTAL RAISED FOR EDUCATION TO MORE THAN $7.3 BILLION

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Education Lottery (TEL) closed out the third quarter (Jan. 1, 2024 – March 31, 2024) of this fiscal year with a transfer of $113,820,000 to the Lottery for Education Account. This brings the grand total raised for all TEL-funded programs to more than $7.3 Billion.

Additional details about the funds generated by the TEL since inception include:

 

  • More than $29.7 Billion in gross ticket revenues
  • More than $20.2 Billion in prizes won by players
  • More than $1.9 Billion paid in retailer commissions

 

“The Lottery is proud to announce this quarter’s results, which reinforce our commitment to funding vital education programs for Tennesseans,” said TEL President and CEO Rebecca Paul. “Students and families continue to benefit from scholarships, grants and after-school programs funded with Lottery dollars, and we remain diligent in our efforts to raise funds for these important education initiatives.”

 

Since inception, more than two million Lottery-funded scholarships and grants have been awarded to Tennessee students seeking a post-secondary education. Additionally, hundreds of enriching K-12 after-school programs have been funded, as well as an energy-efficient schools initiative.
