Powerball Jackpot at $620 Million for Tonight, Mega Millions Won in S.C.

NASHVILLE—Although the whirlwind Mega Millions jackpot run has ended with a single winning ticket sold in South Carolina, jackpot fever remains high with tonight’s $620 million Powerball jackpot. This jackpot is the third largest in Powerball history and the sixth largest in U.S. lottery history.

Meanwhile, the historic $1.537 billion Mega Millions jackpot—the highest for the game and the second highest in history—generated excitement, funds for education, prizes for winners and commissions for retailers.

A few Tennessee-specific details about the jackpot run, which began July 27, 2018, and concluded Oct. 23, 2018, include:

An estimated $17.8 million raised for education
Over $7.7 million in prizes won by Tennessee players
Nearly $3 million in commissions earned by Lottery retailers
Total sales of $44.4 million

Additionally, last night’s drawing alone produced more than 287,000 winning tickets in Tennessee.
