POWERBALL JACKPOT RUN = $12.3 MILLION FOR EDUCATION IN TENNESSEE Top Prize to be split by winners in North Carolina, Texas and Puerto Rico

NASHVILLE – For the Volunteer State, the incredible Powerball jackpot run that ended Wednesday night resulted in 122,142 winning tickets sold in the state, along with plenty of fun around water coolers, coffee shops, dinner tables, and the like.

The most important outcome, however, is that approximately $12.3 million was generated for education in Tennessee during this jackpot cycle alone.

“While it was a thrilling few days, with lots of winners at various levels, the true beneficiaries in Tennessee are the students and families who will ultimately benefit from the millions of dollars raised for designated education programs,” said Rebecca Hargrove, President and CEO of the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation.

Sales in Tennessee for the Powerball jackpot run, which began on Nov. 30, 2014, were approximately $29.1 million, from which an estimated $12.3 million will be given to the education programs funded by Tennessee Lottery ticket sales.

Three tickets, sold in North Carolina, Texas and Puerto Rico, matched all six numbers drawn and will split the $564.1 million jackpot.
